Parkway Village provides before and after school care at two locations: Garibaldi Drive and at St. Pius X Elementary School. Our Garibaldi site provides transportation to and from Sherwood Park and Dorothy Lynas Elementary, while our St. Pius X location is solely reserved for St. Pius X students only.

Parkway Village School Age Centres provide a place away from the chaos of a busy school day.  The Centres have a child-led curriculum in which children get together to share their interests. The program provides opportunities to explore and investigate further into their personal interests.

  • Morning Arrival

When you arrive, it is important to make staff aware that your child is present and to take the opportunity to talk to staff about your child’s needs for the day. Please take time to settle your child and say goodbye. Please call the Centre by 8:00 a.m. on non-instructional, seasonal breaks, and early dismissal days, if your child will be absent.

  • Afternoon Arrival

Please call the Centre before 2:00 p.m. on regular school days if your child will be absent. Upon school dismissal, all children will be picked up outside the designated pick up areas at the schools. Children are expected to come immediately to this destination. The children will be greeted by a child care staff person and signed in. Should a child be delayed or absent, Centre staff will contact the parent.

If the family/guardian and the person in charge agree to procedures for a child to arrive and/or leave on their own, the following will be in effect:

    • A letter of agreement must be signed by the enrolling parent/guardian, dated and signed by the senior staff person in charge. This agreement will be kept in the child’s file.
    • Expectations about arrival and departure will be written in each individual agreement and followed on a daily basis as required.
    • If an arrival and departure agreement is not appropriate for the well-being and safety of a child, permission will not be granted by the Centre and/or permission once granted may be discontinued. A letter starting this will be kept in the child’s file and authorized persons will be expected to bring and to pick up the child at all times.
  • Late Pickup

If you have not picked up your child or called the Centre by 6:00 p.m., the senior staff person will contact alternative person(s) from the authorized pick up list to pick up your child. If that person is unavailable, and you have not contacted the Centre by 6:30 p.m., we are required to notify Emergency Services of the Ministry for Children and Families.

If child is picked up later than 6:00 p.m., a late charge will apply ($5.00 per 5 minutes).
