Parkway Village Childcare Centre offers both a morning, and a full-day program for ages 2 1/2 to Kindergarten. Hidden in the midst of lush forest and spiraling creeks, the environment is our main source of inspiration for our programming. We pride ourselves on the philosophy that children grow through continued exploration of the self and the environment. This includes their community and the people in it.
Through the various aspects of our program, children have the opportunity to develop their life skills, gross/fine motor skills, numeracy skills, literacy skills and positive social relationships.
Trusting the Children: We offer materials to children in a variety of different textures and colours. Creating an environment for the children to feel capable and to create within their own boundaries is a goal that we try to achieve daily. We thrive through encouraging children to experiment with their own ideas and feel a sense of accomplishment at having done it on their own.
Imaginative Play: It is our belief that children learn through play. By acting out real life scenarios, children learn to put the pieces together and make sense of the world around them. Providing lots of opportunities for imaginative play helps the children build on familiar experiences and learn from one another.
The Importance of Down Time: We believe in the importance of resting and recharging. Since children all move at their own pace, we offer quiet play areas for children who choose to have a moment to themselves, or with another friend. Children will often seek out these areas to get away from the bustle of the day. Offering children the chance to slow down and find the spaces in between is important. As well, we aim to provide an outdoor place where children can stop and enjoy the simple things like listening to the birds chirp in the trees, or watching the clouds pass by.
